Mary is an elderly widow, living in her own home, but with a significant mortgage thereon that she raised some years ago to help with a family illness situation. With mortgage repayments to meet and National Superanuation her only income, Mary has no surplus funds each fortnight, after covering her very basic living needs. Desired house maintenance cannot be attended to.
So when it came to not being able to hear her grandchildren clearly, (and after putting off seeking help for more than 7 years) Mary was at a loss to see how she could afford the required hearing aids. With a little support from family, we were able to provide a grant that enabled Mary to purchase her hearing aids. She now enjoys her grandchildren much more through being able to hear them better and her happier demeanor is very evident.
